Coaching - a term that appears more and more often in advertisements and becomes a topic of conversation. But what does coaching involve? How does coaching work, when is it used and what benefits does it bring? And what is of course very important: Does coaching make sense for you? Can it steer your life in a new direction and bring about a lasting change in your life? These questions will be answered in this article.
Superficially described, coaching is a Collective term for different consulting methods for different goals, persons and groups. With coaching you can pave new ways in all areas of your life. Whether a change occurs or how much changes in your life through coaching is entirely up to you and your willingness: Are you open to look at yourself, let go of the old and change something?
The term coach was used at universities in Anglo-American countries as early as the 19th century to refer to people who prepared students for exams and athletic competitions. Coaching became popular only because of its importance in high-performance sports.
There are numerous forms of coaching that you can draw upon for assistance - whether couples coaching, life coaching, business coaching, learning coaching or family coaching and many more. A first important aspect is that coaching is interactive and person-centered. Coaching takes place between a coach and a client, often called coachee. In the process, these two work together intensively. The coach is a kind of process facilitator and uses questioning techniques and a variety of methods to help you find the right solution for you. Coaching takes place voluntarily and requires a good and trusting relationship between coach and client.
Dissatisfaction is an unpleasant companion in life. And once dissatisfaction has settled in, it is sometimes difficult to get rid of it on your own. The stress level rises, various problems accumulate. Are you stressed and facing various problems?
Maybe you are dissatisfied with your overall situation and want to change it, but your will is not strong enough? Do you wish for a fulfilled life? Do you want to broaden your perspectives in order to also be professionally authentic and to be more successful? The desire for Satisfaction and success is there - only the "how" is currently holding you back. Still.
This is exactly the point in your life where coaching can help you. Coaching, by the way, is an English term and translated means as much as Life Training. And just like in sport, coaching helps you to visualize and achieve your goals. Because with the help of this great support, you start exactly where you haven't made any progress so far. Because coaching focuses in particular on your personal development!
However, in order to bring about developments and changes, it is important that your inner attitude changes as well. You should really have the will and deep desire to change something! Only pressure from outside will not help you in the long run to move forward. If you are ready - if you really want to change something in your life, then you are on the right path. Otherwise you are standing in your own way and with that also in the way of shaping your life.
Maybe it's just a small thing that's stopping you from finally taking action. To help you inner bastard we have a great exercise for you! All you need is a pen, a piece of paper and a little time. Ask yourself the question: "What beliefs are stopping me from taking action?" These could be thoughts such as: "I can't do this!", "I'm not not good enough!", "The others can do it better!".
Which Belief Set is it with you that is blocking you? Now would be the perfect time to look at this (ancient) thought with a coach and dissolve it. In coaching you will not only learn how many old beliefs determine your actions and thoughts today. But also which inner peace and healing occurs once you become aware of them and make a new decision.
A coach stands by your side and helps you to sort out your life and set change processes in motion. However, this does not mean that you can sit back, relax and wait for your coach to give you advice. Because - and you should be aware of this - coaching is not a substitute for therapy! During the coaching session, the coach will not (!) tell you what to do. Instead, he or she will inspire and motivate you to adopt various strategies. This change is challenging. Because your old "self" will keep knocking here and there and try to put you to the test.
You will not be given advice or prescribed courses of action during a coaching session. Instead, your coach will support you and work with you on the visualization and implementation of your goals - with the help of various new success strategies and beliefs that are gradually allowed to manifest in you.
Coaching can help you facilitate your day-to-day processes in life and realize your full potential. You can learn to live out your personality - without your ego getting in the way. Because let's face it - there's always room for improvement. But sometimes you face hurdles that seem insurmountable at first glance. What is a curb for one person, is like Mount Everest for another. This is where coaching can have its first effect: Which path do you decide to take when new challenges come your way? Do you possibly follow the old Belief Set "I can't do it anyway!" or are you thinking "Nothing ventured, nothing gained?"
Often you don't have an outsider to help you understand your situation. Friends and family are usually too close and do not have the emotional distance. But if someone independent from the outside assesses your situation and approaches the matter together with you, everything looks completely different again.
Inner peace feel. That is one of the goals of coaching. You get to know yourself. You deal with yourself - your way to self-knowledge and a lot of inner clarity. This can be uncomfortable, sometimes painful, bring back memories and be emotionally exhausting - but it is worth it. You can release blocks that have been standing in the way of your success. With the help of a coach, you can break through outdated patterns of behavior and get your thoughts in order. Your coach helps you to become aware of your values and needs. However, you must be willing to change.
Coaching also helps in a business context. Let's take the following example: In your life, you're facing a challenge. You question yourself or your path. You don't know how to deal with your leadership responsibility and what to expect. You don't have an idea how to go about the new ways. And what happens if you decide not to go the old way anymore - but the new one is not yet within reach?
