Dieter Lange is one of the crème de la crème of top German speakers. Anyone who is concerned with personal growth has not been able to avoid him for many decades. And anyone whose heart beats for self-realization can learn a lot from Dieter Lange. But there is one topic that the trainer and success coach has rarely addressed: spirituality.
Although he describes himself as a very spiritual person, Dieter Lange reveals: "Many people think spirituality is esoteric weirdo stuff. But it means nothing other than looking inwards. It is a different way of seeing the world. However, most of us are outward looking and for these people spirituality is still very far away." That's why the expert addresses the topic regularly, but doesn't make it the focus of his coaching sessions.
But what does it even mean to live a spiritual life? Dieter Lange explains in the interview: "The spiritual world consists of becoming one with God. That's what it means to feel guided. We think we can make everything come out of ourselves - but those are pure ego trips."
Since many people can no longer do anything with the term 'God', the expert refers to words of Pascal's wager. These say: 'I bet that God exists - because then I can win a lot and lose nothing. If I bet that God does not exist, I could lose a lot but have nothing to gain.' Dieter Lange explains, "For this reason, I personally think it is simply intelligent to believe in God. Whereby believing does not mean knowing. That's why it's always important to collect as many experiences as possible in which you experience the divine."
Dieter Lange defines 'God' not as an overpowering father, but as a state of consciousness and a powerful overcoming of polarity. According to this, every human being can discover the divine in his or her life. The expert explains: "This is the meaning of life - To feel the intense sensation of physical or mental fusion." Moreover, he quotes a saying that goes:
Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away.
So it's all about those moments when our breath catches. Dieter Lange: "No inhaling, no exhaling. It's about the moments when we pause for a moment. These are the moments in which we have access to the spiritual world. And each of us has experienced those. The great events of our lives, by the way, were not planned beforehand. Every person who looks into his or her life will realize that in retrospect. Life can only be understood looking back, but it must be lived looking forward."
Even though Dieter Lange has so far tended to avoid the term "spirituality" in his coaching sessions and keynotes, his content is very in-depth. He works for large corporations, collaborates with professional athletes and many successful personalities from business, sports and the public. And although many people still react very distantly to the term "spirituality", Dieter Lange notices thanks to his work that spiritual views are gradually becoming more and more popular and accepted by society.
In an interview, he explains: "If you want performance today, you have to offer meaning. That's why my credo is: 'Go to bed with a dream, wake up with a purpose. But many people no longer dream this big dream. And that's why they don't get up in the morning with a purpose. Most people can't tell you what their purpose in life is. They know their goals, but not the overarching vision."
Dieter Lange knows that many people don't know what they want. He reveals, "They always want what they already know. But when you ask them what their life is actually about, they can't answer that question." And so it happens that they never live their full potential. Dieter Lange: "That's why we discuss exactly these topics in my seminars. In doing so, I combine Eastern wisdom with Western knowledge. In this way I can lead people to find this meaning in themselves and for themselves."
