5 self-management methods that will increase your sales

Reading time 3 minutes

Self-employment without self-management is short-lived. Because if you can't organize yourself personally, you're wasting precious time - and time is money, as we all know. On the other hand, with the help of clever time and self-management methods, you can learn to tickle even more performance out of yourself. And if you work more effectively, your sales will soon skyrocket. Sounds good? Then we have just the thing for you today: Here are 5 practical self-management methods for your business!

What is self-management?

Before we get started, let's take a quick look at the definition. What does self-management actually mean? It's simple: If you have the ability to manage yourself optimally, you will easily achieve your (sales) goals. In concrete terms, self-management consists of your Setting GoalsThe right motivation, clever planning and sensible organisation are the key to success.

Prioritizing tasks is also an important aspect of self-management. Why? Because you need to decide which tasks are relevant at what time within a short period of time. So, the secret of self-management is to distinguish the essential from the non-essential and then give 100 percent to get the essential done in a timely manner. Here come 5 self-management methods that will help you do that and increase your sales in the long run.

1. not-to-do list in self-management

Almost everyone has bad habits that prevent them from being productive and systematically working through the most important tasks in self-employment. Therefore, make a note of all the aspects that ...

  • make you unproductive.
  • taking up your time.
  • are extremely costly.
  • make you question your goals.

Once you've done that, it's much easier to focus on important tasks and try to eliminate the distractors.

2. SMART method for your self-management

The second practical method was developed as early as 1956 and helps you formulate your goals. Whenever you need to estimate tasks and deadlines as realistically as possible, the SMART method is ideal. It stands for

  • Specific: Describe your goals as specifically as possible.
  • Measurable: Establish measurable factors.
  • Attractive: Plan your goals in a way that makes you want to do them.
  • Realistic: Check your goals for their feasibility.
  • Deadline: Set a realistic deadline.

3. the Eisenhower method

The Eisenhower method is a coordinate system and ensures one thing above all: order. It organizes to-do's according to their relevance and urgency and can therefore be extremely helpful in everyday work. Divide your goals into ...

  • Tasks that are urgent and important: These you do yourself immediately.
  • Urgent and unimportant tasks: These you pass on to experts or employees.
  • Tasks that are not urgent but important: You'll do them yourself later.
  • Non-urgent or unimportant tasks: You can ignore these with a clear conscience.

4. ALPEN method

The fourth method also helps wonderfully to structure your tasks and thus to gain a better overall view. ALPEN stands for ...

  • A for Set Task.
  • L as in estimate length.
  • P for buffer time.
  • E like make decisions.
  • N as in perform follow-up inspection.

Small weakness of the self-management method: Sometimes the ALPEN method is relatively time-consuming. With a little practice, however, you will become much faster within a short time and then benefit enormously from the method.

5. self-management: the Pomodoro method

With the Pomodoro method, you work for 25 minutes with high concentration and then take a break for five minutes. Then you go full throttle again and give yourself a longer break of 30 minutes after four sessions. Quite simple, isn't it? And yet the method is extremely efficient for some.

Now it's your turn: Find out which of the 5 self-management methods works best for you personally, and then start implementing them. Because the more effectively you work, the higher the turnover you generate. So it's worth it. We wish you a lot of fun and good luck.
