The DISG personality test and your color family give you information about who you are, which strengths and weaknesses you have and where hidden talents lie dormant in you. But the test can do a lot more than just show you which of the four Behavioral Dimensions you belong to. There are not only dominant, initiative, steady and conscientious people, but a lot in between. Because we are all unique and so is our personality absolutely individually knitted. The DISG model is very accurate and therefore also takes into account the different characteristics.
In this magazine article we would like to show you how your Colour family according to the results of your DISC personality test is assigned to. This gives you an even deeper insight into the world of the DISG model and tells you everything about the background of your colour family.
As you may know, there are basically four personality dimensions, colored as follows: Red (dominant), yellow (influencing), green (steady) and blue (cautious). Your color family will be defined by the most intense dimensions in your Behavioral patterns ...is determined. Depending on your pattern, you have one dominant dimension, two dominant dimensions, or three dominant dimensions. Because no human being can be pigeonholed.
As mentioned at the outset, we are all very different individuals to whom four behavioural dimensions alone would not do justice. Therefore the DISC model much more profound and distinguishes 20 personality types. The four dimensions (dominant, steady, conscientious, proactive) can also exist side by side! They complement each other and in this way form new constellations.
If you one dominant dimension you belong to the color family of that dimension. Small example: Your dominant dimension is red, so that your color family is also red. For this we use the term "primary behavior". You already know the four behavioral dimensions:
If you two dominant behavioural dimensions then you have a primary behavior (your most intense dimension) and a secondary behavior (the second most intense dimension). In this case, your color family is determined by its primary behavior. These different tendencies are divided as follows:
The last possibility your DISG test may reveal: You have three dominant dimensions. In this case, you exhibit very versatile and multifaceted behavior. Your color family is determined by the combination of the three dimensions rather than by your most intense dimension.
More specifically, someone with the „red-yellow-blue" pattern belongs to the red color family. The „red-yellow-green" pattern belongs to the yellow family. The „yellow-green-blue" pattern belongs to the green color family. And the „red-green-blue" pattern belongs to the blue type. This is completely independent of the order of dimensional intensity.
This color family classification is based on our own calibration using more than two million simulated test runs: It determines which combination of three dimensions falls into which family, regardless of which individual dimension is most pronounced in your case. That’s why your most intense dimension might be yellow, but you still belong to the green family.
