James Doty is a professor of neurosurgery at Stanford University. He is also the founder of the Center for Compassion Altruism Research & Education. He has already been awarded the prestigious Founder's Circle Stanford University Prize for his work. Furthermore, he is the editor of the scientific publication series "Oxford Handbook of Compassion Science". 

James Doty became known to the general public through the publication of several books, which have been translated into over 30 languages. Especially the book "The neurosurgeon who forgot his heart" became a real bestseller. Through numerous personal anecdotes, Doty describes how he managed to change his life, let his heart speak more and gain a new quality of life.
