Decode your subconscious and use your inner power

Reading time 6 minutes

The subconscious is described as the gateway to the soul. Thoughts arise unconsciously, but they influence our feelings and actions. Within us slumber impressions, memories and ideas.

Experiences of daily life are processed in the brain and stored in the subconscious. They guide our behavior as well as our decisions without us being aware of it.

Positive perceptions find their way into the unconscious, as do fears and unfavorable behavior patterns. This part of our consciousness cannot be reached with rational thinking.

The capabilities of the subconscious mind extend far beyond the storage of experiences and memories and emotional processing. Even bodily processes that we take for granted, such as the heartbeat and breathing, are controlled by the subconscious.

Introduction to the subconscious

According to the definition, the subconscious is an inner voice, the gut feeling or intuition that saves us from making wrong decisions. In psychology, the unconscious is the place where our thoughts and feelings arise.

The subconscious is therefore an important part of the human mind. Unconscious We are not consciously aware of emotions and behavioral patterns and are therefore unable to control them. The development of behaviors and habits is due to the information stored in the subconscious.

Our unconscious side is not only responsible for soul and mental aspects. The subconscious plays an important role in controlling automatic physical functions such as breathing, heartbeat and digestion.

Emotional reactions occur unconsciously and are beyond our control. Comparable to a certain button that is pressed, the subconscious unwinds the emotional and behavioral program created in this "drawer". As the most important part of our psyche, the subconscious is able to influence our mindset.

The importance of the unconscious mind is greater than you think. It shapes our behavior and our decisions and thus has a significant influence on our path in life. How you react to other people and situations depends on your unconscious thoughts and the wealth of experience stored in your subconscious.

The difference between consciousness and subconsciousness

How does the conscious differ from the unconscious? The human consciousness consists in the perception of the own ego.

The subconscious, on the other hand, contains hidden desires, deep feelings, thoughts and beliefs. We do not have access to this consciously. However, we can deal with the unconscious side of our personality.

Consciously, we experience the world through reason. When you listen to your favorite music, the mind analyzes what kind of music it is. The subconscious connects longings and hopes with the musical sounds. At the same time, unconscious processes are taking place that you cannot influence.

An example of this is a love song that moves you to tears. The song reminds you of your first great love. Emotions rise up in you. Your subconscious signals that the memory of this beautiful time is still there. Even if you are no longer aware of it.

Functions of the subconscious mind

The human subconscious has several functions. One of them is the control of automatic bodily functions. Breathing is largely automated, even though you can influence your breathing at will.

Heartbeat and pulse are controlled by the subconscious. During physical exertion, excitement or stress, the heart beats faster without you contributing anything. Just the thought of an exciting or stressful situation can trigger physical reactions.

The subconscious also regulates body temperature and digestion. These bodily processes can also become unbalanced through negative thinking.

The unconscious is responsible for processing information and forming habits. The whole attention (consciousness) is needed to cope with everyday tasks, such as learning, cooking or shopping.

Movement sequences also happen unconsciously. You stand up without thinking about which muscles you are moving. The subconscious does that for you.

Storage of memories and experiences

Storing memories and experiences is the most important function of the unconscious mind. Unnoticed, the brain records everything you experience during your life.

Many events and situations you will later remember consciously hardly or not at all. Your subconscious, however, forgets nothing. Positive or traumatic memories can still influence your actions and decisions decades later.

Do you sometimes not understand your own behavior? In retrospect, can you no longer understand why you decided one way and not another? Your life experiences, stored in your subconscious, have influenced your behavior, although you have not consciously noticed it.

Influence of the subconscious on our lives

Can experiences and events that took place a long time ago still determine our thoughts and actions today?

There are enough examples that prove the influence of the subconscious on the way we live our lives. For example, positive as well as negative experiences can affect your choice of career and your relationships. Children who associate doctor's visits with pain and anxiety rarely work in the medical field as adults.

If you were bitten by a dog in childhood, you are unlikely to choose a pet later. If you grow up in a loving home and experience a lot of affection, you will bring this positive experience into your own relationship.

The subconscious plays a major role in the emotional processing of challenges and conflicts. In crisis situations, existential threats and other difficulties, the subconscious draws on the stored wealth of experience. This determines whether you master problems quickly or take longer to overcome low points.

What impact does the subconscious have on our creativity? Creative people are always looking for inspiration. They want to discover new things and develop ideas.

Unconscious blocks can get in your way like obstacles. It is true that the subconscious is the source of our creativity. However, experiences of a too strict upbringing, neglect and loneliness can block existing creative resources.

Techniques for influencing the subconscious mind

The subconscious cannot be tricked. Unpleasant experiences and adventures cannot simply be deleted like a computer program. However, there are techniques that help to replace negative thought patterns with positive thoughts.

Hypnosis and self-hypnosis have proven to be methods that allow direct access to the subconscious. Hypnosis Coaching brings you into contact with your subconscious resources and skills. In a trance-like state, blocking Beliefs dissolved in order to bring about positive changes.

Meditation and mindfulness training consist of efficient mind exercises. Meditation is an ancient method that calms and relaxes the mind by consciously directing attention.

Mindfulness exercises train self-awareness and are helpful in reducing stress. Mindfulness training is about perceiving the state of one's self, but not evaluating it.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) was developed in the 1970s as a motivation and communication model. The concept is applied in the most diverse areas of life. NLP uses the role of the unconscious to influence actions and decisions. In Neurolinguistic Programming, new behavior is made available to the brain.

Whether the glass is half full or half empty always depends on how you look at it.

Numerous case studies and success stories prove the benefit of dealing with one's own subconscious. Imagine the shy young professional who hardly received any attention in her childhood. Due to her low self-confidence, she is always in the background.

Her achievements are not appreciated. She is overlooked for promotions. The reason for her difficulties are the negative life experiences stored in the subconscious.

After reprogramming through NLP and positive affirmations, her self-perception changes. She succeeds in being convincing both professionally and privately. She is promoted to department manager and now leads an entire team.
