Self-love meditation is about Acceptance and appreciation of the self - a healthy relationship with oneself.

The beginning: How to find the right attitude towards self-love meditation

Do you think of meditation as sitting in a sitting position, closing your eyes and saying "Oooooommmm"? Far from it. The important thing with self-love meditation is to actively block out your surroundings and guide your thoughts in a desired direction. Should we be completely honest be? It's not that easy at first.

Not everyone manages to Patience to simply sit still for minutes on end. Directing your thoughts also sounds easier than it actually is. But you know what? It's not bad at all. Don't blame yourself if meditation doesn't work so well at first and don't put yourself under pressure.

For self-love meditation to really bring success, you need patience. Accept if you still have a few problems at the beginning and take things slowly. Pressure and stress will not lead you to your goal, but will have the exact opposite effect.

Mindfulness as the key: loving the moment as it is

Living in the here and now, being aware of everything that is happening around you and not already living in the stress of the future - it's not that easy. But it is precisely this conscious awareness that helps you to slow down in the turbulence of everyday life and give your mind a little break to relax.

However, it is not only actively paying attention to your surroundings that is important for your mental health, but also being aware of yourself. This is exactly what self-love meditation addresses. Mindfulness is the key element when it comes to meditative activities. That is why we would like to introduce you to an exercise that helps you to stay in the moment, consciously perceive it and accept it.

  1. Close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply. Slowly count to three as you inhale, then hold your breath for five seconds and count to seven as you exhale.
  2. What smells did you notice? The smell of wet leaves? The fresh goods from the bakery next door? Does it smell like rain? Or do flowering plants envelop you in their scent?
  3. Then concentrate on what you can feel. Can you feel a warm summer breeze on your skin? Are gentle raindrops falling on your face? Is a small bug perhaps resting on your arm after its flight?
  4. Now open your eyes again. What do you see? Look down first? What surface are you standing on? Pebbles? Asphalt? Meadow? Then look up. Is the sky cloudy or clear? Can you recognize the individual clouds? Can you see birds or airplanes? Now look straight ahead and around you. Where exactly are you? Are there many people around you? Are you in the middle of nature or in the city? What little things that you have never noticed here before do you suddenly see?
  5. Feel inside yourself. How are you feeling right now? Are you calm and relaxed? Can you feel your pulse slowing down and suddenly you can take a deep breath again?

Heart-opening meditation: Sending love to yourself

Heart-opening meditation is all about learning to listen more to your heart and not just your head. Your heart and you will find harmony again and it will be easier for you to trust what it tells you. You learn to be more Dear to be able to develop and give. This does not necessarily mean in a romantic way. It is also about love for your fellow human beings - for your family, your friends and also about the topic of charity in everyday life.

You open your heart again to all the beautiful things in life and are also able to see who wants to give you love and accept it. You also improve your love for yourself with the help of heart-opening meditation.

All of this, of course, also has a positive effect on your emotional health. You feel more secure again in relation to your own feelings - both positive and negative. You feel less ambiguity and don't keep asking yourself: Are my emotions really justified right now? You develop new courage for your feelings and stand by them. This brings you incredibly close to yourself, because you accept yourself as a feeling individual - and that is exactly what makes people human.

Self-reflection in silence: understanding the inner dialog

We all have that inner voice that sometimes just won't shut up. As a child, it often sounds like our parents. But the older we get, the more it sounds like ourselves. We all have an almost constant inner monologue - even if it's just about what we should cook for ourselves now. Often this monologue simply drives us crazy.

We think far too much about things that we can't change anyway, or challenges that we have actually mastered with flying colors, but still "think them through". This takes an incredible amount of energy and wastes an enormous amount of mental capacity. However, the inner monologue costs even more energy if we keep suppressing it and breaking it off, are unable to finish a thought and therefore cannot come to a conclusion. In this way, more and more accumulates.

Self-love meditation is also about sorting thoughts. So observe them carefully and follow them calmly as part of your meditation. Meditating does not mean spasmodically switching off your mind and keeping it silent, quite the opposite. Listen to your thoughts, follow them and bring them to an end. Only then can you "clean them up" and make room for more mindfulness.
